Thanks for visiting my site. This unique book is my little project for bona-fide “Car Nuts” like me to enjoy. I got into this project because I wanted to work crosswords but I wanted them to be about my favorite subject, “American Classic Cars”. I looked high and low for such puzzles from “big box bookstores” to the internet. Nada! Nothing! So, what else could I do but to create some? Over a period of a few years I’ve created about 250 unique puzzles. This is Volume 1, as others will follow.
The book is a reflection of many makes and models of American Classic Cars from about 1947 to 1974, including their features and other unique particulars. There are 28 puzzles, some easy and some difficult. It includes puzzles about Mustangs, Tri -Five Chevys, Little T-Birds, Studebakers, Pontiacs, Chryslers, even Pacers! There is one puzzle about “Early American Muscle Cars”. There’s even a bonus puzzle about Harleys! The solutions are on the back of each puzzle but you probably won’t need them. The puzzles are also rated by “degree of difficulty” on the index page. If you are so inclined, please let me know how you did. I really hope you enjoy working them as much as I enjoyed creating them for you!
Good luck,
Danny
I’m a kid that grew up in Arlington, Texas during the ‘50s and ‘60s. In so many ways I was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, for me! Cars were really changing mechanically and style-wise during that period. Every new model year brought innovative wondrous options, aesthetic changes as well as vast mechanical improvements. Brands were distinctively different and back then there was an abundance of customization! What a time for a young car lover!
One of the most fun “car related” activities of my early childhood was when our family was on road trips, my dad and I played “Car Review”, simply identifying the make and model of the oncoming cars. We’d talk about what we liked about that particular car and even other specifics that were interesting. This little game helped me understand and appreciate the positive attributes of ALL the unique makes and models and I loved it! By the age of 12 I was taking apart (and putting back together) old lawnmower engines and assisting dad with family car maintenance. By 14 me and a few buds pulled an engine from a car and rebuilt it, with adult supervision, of course.
Fast forward to current times. I wanted to begin to play with crossword puzzles and I searched for classic car related puzzles. There just weren’t any. I thought surely there must be many car lovers out there that would enjoy such puzzles, so I decided to create some. This book is a compilation of crosswords about many different brands as well as a multitude of miscellaneous, fun puzzles all related to classic cars and those times in America.
After residing in Arlington, Texas and the surrounding area, for 69 years, 50 with my Arlington High School sweetheart, Becky, she and I moved to Santa Fe, NM. and we live there now.
Hope you enjoy working them as much as I enjoyed creating them!
